3 ways to import glossaries into Lingoversity
- Double-click on a Lingoversity glossary XML file (.lyx) to copy it into the transfer folder. Use Transfer on Glossary tab to complete the transfer.
- Copy manually Lingoversity glossary XML file (.lyx) into the Lingoversity transfer folder. Use Transfer on Glossary tab to complete the transfer.
- Use Import From File on Glossary tab and select the Lingoversity glossary XML file (.lyx) you want to import.
Lingoversity transfer folder:
XP c:/Documents and Settings/[current user]/Application Data/Lingoversity/Transfer
Win7 c:/Users/[current user]/AppData/Roaming/Lingoversity/Transfer
Lingoversity constantly monitors the transfer folder for new Lingoversity glossary XML files (.lyx).
Notice:
Language pairs of the glossary files must be the same what was previously set in Options (single language glossaries: one language match needed)
Structure of Lingoversity glossary XML files (.lyx)
Lingoversity import/export glossaries are stored in XML format. We provide the description of Lingoversity XML structure so you can convert your own Lingoversity glossary from external vocabulary resources.
Header <lingoversity_glossary ... >
- version attribute should be 1.0
- langpair attribute value is learn language ISO code | your native language ISO code
if you make single language glossary, use * instead of your native language (ex.: EN|DE or EN|ES or EN|* etc...)
- timestamp attribute is create time format: YYYYMMDDhhmmss
- author attribute contains the author name
One expression item <item ... >
- expression node value is the expression - don't use line break
- translation node value is the translated expression on your language - don't use line break
- derived node value is the derived forms of expression for the highlights - line break (enter) separated
- comment node value is the any comments
- sentences node value is the example sentences - line break (enter) separated
Lingoversity XML file is UTF-8 format.
Online supported voices
Lingoversity provides online voice support for certain languages (currently for English, Spanish, French and German).
Online voices for expressions and sentences are generated by the Lingoversity server and they are downloaded automatically by Lingoversity in idle status. The following illustration shows the voice status of a glossary item.
Send us your glossary
Share your glossary with us and we allow our visitors to download it as a basic glossary sample to get started.
